It’s arrived. The Friday before my week long excursion into the Central Indiana wilds for some serious R&R. 6,000 square feet of hillbilly luxury. Two kitchens, two hot tubs, and seclusion as far as the eye can see. Plus a killer brewery just minutes from me to supply the local suds.
It doesn’t get any better than that.
Not only am I on vacation for a week, but this past week saw two major events happen here in the US. First, the Affordable Care Act was found not unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. So that means those 7.5 million Americans that now have affordable health insurance will continue to have affordable health care without conservative politicians being controlled by lobbyists trying to take that away from them. Then just today, the Supreme Court ruled that gay marriage is a constitutional right across all 50 states. Now gay couples in every state can be legally married and the states have to acknowledge this. It’s a beautiful thing. I mean, if Ireland can do it -one of the most religious countries in the world- why in the hell can’t the land of the free and the home of the brave? I feel this is a monumental week for an otherwise bruised and battered United States(and done by our own hands.)
I don’t like talking politics on here as I don’t do well with asshat trolls that like to drop by and leave their simpleton vitriol(I used to post about political and social topics but got tired of the trolling so I stopped.) Just know I’m on the side of the people. You can worship any goddamned way you please, just don’t shit on my lawn. Thanks.
In other news, I finished my entertainment cabinet and got to move it in the living room today. I have to say, I’m more impressed with the final results than I thought I would be. I wanted a unit I could put the tv on top of , and have the turntable, receiver, CD player, and blu ray player on. Then underneath have room for vinyl storage and the video game console. Mission f*****g accomplished. Seriously, I love this. There’s plenty of room, plus room to grow. Maybe I’ll get a CD changer at some point. Or if I upgrade the TT I’ll have room for a nice pre-amp as well. As it stands, I’m completely happy with my AT-PL120 and Onkyo analog receiver. I get great sound.
Oh, and today I picked up the Black Mountain 10th anniversary reissue. It sounds absolutely amazing. Colored vinyl, plus a record of unreleased goodies, including an extended remix of “Druganaut” that will melt your face. Oh, and I also happened to pick up the new High On Fire, Luminiferous, on extremely cool colored vinyl(pictures will come soon.)
So yeah, with two Founders’ Porters already down and just finishing up a listen of the Black Mountain album -along with the wonderful things that have happened in the last two days here in the states- my vacation is getting off to a smashing start.
Peace, love, and all that other stuff.
