How you doin’?

pencil JohnSo it’s Monday.  How did your weekend go?  Did you do anything fun?  Did you go to a movie with your significant other?  Which one?  Would you recommend it?  What about music?  Did you hear anything that made your frown turn upside down?  If you want to get something off your chest I’m all ears(in the digital sense, I suppose).  I’d love to hear from you, my blogging community.  I feel as if I’ve come out of a bit of a funk.  Skies a little bluer, suns a little warmer, and the wind’s a bit more crisp, if you know what I mean.  Tomorrow I’ll fill you in on my weekend filled with middle school plays, an improvisational recording session, and a talking dog that told me the meaning of life.  Until then…

  1. Doin’ fine in no-longer Carolin – a. OK, that didn’t work, but all is well. The weather over the weekend was normal for the first time in a while and I’m aching/burning/itching to get the newest album by Savages.

Also, while messing with the guitar, I stumbled on a cool chord that I’m sure was used by … And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.

So, yeah, I feel infinitely cool and look forward to hearing about your life returning to normalcy. Welcome to ordinary Monday!

    1. Can’t wait to check out Savages as well! They’re like an all-girl version of Iceage…but British….and all-girl.

We had great weather here. Lots of mowing and weeding and fertilizing.

New chord, huh? What a great feeling. It’s like unlocking a door to a room you never knew existed in your home. What’s in there? You’re about to find out.

      I’ve missed you, ordinary Monday.

    1. Damn. I never realized that till just now. But I do look like Damian Abraham. I’m no more hardcore than I was yesterday, I don’t think. Wait, let me check……………………..no. Still the same.

  2. Not a bad weekend. I worked a lot, and I got on a kick with The Cure in which I listened to many of their albums for the first time in a while.
I also learned what it was like to have a literal argument with myself. My 13-year old son and I were arguing over lyrics to a song, and he sounded exactly like me, right down to the contemptuous tone for not seeing his side.
Sigh, this will be a fun adolescence.

    1. Ahh, nothing like seeing yourself in your kids. I’m starting to see that a lot with my almost 13 year old daughter. All I can say is “Sorry mom and dad.”

A Cure kick, huh? Excellent. I was spinning ‘Faith’ and ‘Pornography’ quite a bit last week.

  3. A great three day weekend full of the wholesome joys of gardening, decorating, baking, reading and hiking. Only happy music allowed this weekend, I’ve become obsessed with Dennis Wilson’s ‘Pacific Ocean Blue’.

Obviously, will need some sort of unholy sleaze-fest next weekend to even up the cosmic scales.

    1. Sounds wonderful. Mrs. Hubner73 and myself have talked about starting a veggie garden as we use so many over the summer. Lots of fresh salsa and guacamole.

That Dennis Wilson album is so good. I was on a Smile kick a couple weeks ago.

Been dirtying things up with the new Deerhunter.

  4. The weekend flew by. We went junking. People want way too much for their crap these days so we didn’t buy anything. We cooked a mess of pork chops, which we’re still eating. We watched some documentaries and I took my cat for a walk. Pretty tame.

We recently saw Oblivion. It was alright if you have money and time to burn. But if you don’t, you’ll be fine if you wait for it to hit Red Box.

    1. People want way too much for their crap. I know what you mean. If they want to get rid of it, then price it accordingly.

Oblivion. I’m afraid I’m forever ruined of Tom Cruise. Though the movie looked like a decent popcorn flick.
